One of the most magical times to stay at Wiveton Hall, experience our charming holiday accommodation, atmospheric marsh views and countryside this Spring.
Enjoy inviting walks in Norfolk’s countryside, and North Norfolk’s beautiful, uncrowded coastline with your family.
There is no shortage of things to see and do here. Here are some of our suggestions:
- Walled Garden – Behind the gates of our ‘Secret’ Kitchen Garden lies a herb garden, fruit trees and beautiful flowers. Our paths and planting areas encourage exploration including our Sunk Garden, planted in the Edwardian era to shape the estate’s landscape, with many trees and plants still thriving today.
- Cley marshes - Norfolk Wildlife Trust run since 1926, this is one of the UK’s best-known nature reserves. There are a number of ponds and bird watching hides, Bittern can be heard in the Spring and Curlews and many migrating wader frequent the marsh.
- Wildlife spotting – The rare Clouded Yellow Butterfly bred at Wiveton last year for the first time. Encouraged by the legumes (nitrogen fixing plants) we planted as part of a Countryside Stewardship scheme to encourage wildflowers, insects, breeding birds and wintering birds. We are hoping for the common lizard to return.
- Beaches – you are spoilt for choice for wonderful beaches in North Norfolk. Our closest, Cley is a pebble beach often with stunning sunsets, a pleasant 30-minute walk away or 5-minute car journey.
- Coastal walks – Walk down to Cley, along the sea wall around to Blakeney and then back to Wiveton Hall. Taking approximately one hour, relax at Norfolk Tea Co’s café, enjoying some of the best views in Norfolk. Open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10.00am – 4.00pm during the Spring. And from 30th March, they’re opening daily from 9.00am until 5.00pm.
