Frances Emeleus
has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Canterbury College of Art, and an MA in
Fine Art from Birmingham College of Art.
She has run adult education art classes at Kent University, and taught
undergraduate art school students. She likens learning painting to
learning to drive: 'Once you master the basics its is a wonderful way of
seeing the world...'

The café is staying open at the weekends this winter for the first time,
which gives us a marvellous opportunity to use its light and airy space
for painting classes during the week. Frances Emeleus will teach a series
of six classes in two differents subjects.
The classes will take place
every Thursday.
The first 6 will
begin on
November 5th and end on December 17th. They will continue after Christmas
until the end of March.
●Painting
and drawing for people who think they can't!
Thursdays from 10.00 to 12.00 noon, beginning on November 5th.
This class
is for
those who would like to learn to paint and draw but dread going to an art
class where they imagine everyone is more experienced. We will use simple
techniques using both line and colour that will help to build confidence
and from this, enjoyment. We will tackle both landscape and still life, in
pencil, charcoal, gouache, acrylic and oil paints.

●Drawing
and painting portraits
Thursdays
from
2.00 – 4.00pm, beginning on November 5th
This class is both for complete beginners who would like to learn the
observation and techniques necessary to draw and paint portraits, and also
for experienced painters who would like to practice portraiture with a
model available.
Media will include pencil, charcoal, gouache, acrylic and oil paints.

Participants are requested to bring their own art materials, although
drawing boards are provided. However if you would like to discuss what

Cakes at the Café
on Art Thursdays...
Wiveton Farm Café opens only at weekends during the winter, but on Art
Thursdays there will be coffee, tea and special cakes available to the
participants.
●
Why not book in to both classes,
and enjoy some of our delicious home-made refreshments between the two!
